Three days in inland Istria

A considered itinerary with Motovun as a base, two nights inland and no race to see everything.

This suggested trip concentrates on the northern hills. It uses Motovun as a base for the first two nights and leaves the third evening flexible for your onward journey. Book the stay and one meaningful experience before filling the spaces between.

01

Day one · Motovun and Oprtalj

Arrive with time to leave luggage and understand parking. Give Motovun the late morning and lunch, then choose a gentle afternoon in Oprtalj. Return for dinner and an evening walk. If arrival is late, keep Oprtalj optional and enjoy the town where you are staying.

02

Day two · Grožnjan and Završje

Start in Grožnjan and let open galleries shape the morning. Reserve lunch and continue to Završje for its stone streets and valley setting. Return to your base without adding another major stop. A concert or tasting can replace the second town when it deserves more time.

03

Day three · Buzet, Roč and Hum

After checkout, begin with Buzet’s historic centre. Continue to Roč and Hum for the Glagolitic connection, choosing one arranged interior or heritage visit rather than several. Allow for lunch, transfers and your onward journey. Drop one town if a workshop or late departure changes the day.

04

Adapt it to your interests

For frescoes and central Istrian architecture, replace the whole third day with Draguć and Gračišće or with Gračišće and Pićan. Boljun suits a northeastern extension. In rain, build around a confirmed indoor visit and a long lunch; in summer, move exposed walks towards cooler hours.
